Brisbane’s startup ecosystem generated $10.8B in Ecosystem Value, growing 81%. Key sectors include AI, Big Data & Analytics, Life Sciences, and Cleantech, supported by strong talent and government-led initiatives.

Advance Queensland and Startup Genome have teamed up to spotlight Brisbane’s entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report:

  • Ranking as the #31-40 Emerging Ecosystem, moving up 13 spots from GSER 2023

  • #4 Ecosystem in the Oceania Region

  • The ecosystem created $10.8 billion in Ecosystem Value from Jul 01, 2021 to Dec 31, 2023, representing 81% compound annual growth compared to Jul 01, 2019 to Dec 31, 2021 time period. Ecosystem Value is a measure of economic impact, calculated as the value of exits and startup valuations.

  • The AI, Big Data and Analytics, Life Sciences, and Cleantech sectors are highlighted for their density of talent, support resources, and startup activity

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and a forward-thinking government are cited as reasons a startup should move to the ecosystem
